You will need: - Your AW5 camera - A microSD memory card Before proceeding any further, please make sure to backup any video files or photo files you wish to save from the microSD card you will use, as it will need to be formatted. HOW TO UPDATE: 1. Format the microSD memory card, either by selecting the "Format" option on your camera, or by formatting the memory card while it is connected to your personal computer via the short USB cable. If it is a blank memory card, you may proceed to the next step. 2. The extracted documents should contain a "firmware.bin" file. Copy and paste this file into your camera's microSD card. There are two ways to do this: i. With the microSD card inserted into your AW5, connect the AW5 to your personal computer using the provided short USB cable. Access the microSD card folder, and copy the file into the folder, next to "EVENT" and "NORMAL". ii. Remove the microSD card from your AW5 camera if it is inserted, and using an adapter or similar device, connect to your PC. You may then copy the file into the folder, next to "EVENT" and "NORMAL". 2. Disconnect your AW5 from your computer if it is connected. Shutoff your AW5 by holding the Power button for 5 seconds. 3. Insert the microSD card into the AW5, if it is not already inserted. 4. Connect your AW5 to a power supply source, by using the provided 3.6M power cable or a similar power output device. You may connect your AW5 to your computer, or wait until you go to your vehicle once again. 5. Once your camera is powered on, there should be a prompt that says "Firmware Update?". Press the Up button to highlight the checkmark in blue, then click the "OK" button. 6. The screen of your AW5 should now show "Processing..." 7. Within a few minutes, your camera should restart by itself, and the "Motion Detection" function should be available. The "Backlight off setting" should now also have the "Delay 30 seconds" and "Delay 1 minute" setting. For further instructions on how to use these functions, please consult your manual or the online manual. Regarding the Motion Detection function: With this function, your camera will automatically start recording if an object passes through its line of sight, even while the camera is not currently recording. Note that the camera has to remain on for this function to work. Therefore, this will not work if your vehicle engine is off and your camera is out of battery. However, if you wish to record for a few hours, you can power on your camera using an external power source such as a portable power bank and charge your camera. Version info: Car DVR 50 AR161119I
